NYX Cheekies Lip Lingerie review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

As all the NYX Lip Lingerie liquid lipsticks, 16 Cheekies is a long wearing, mousse textured lippie that dries down matte. It is a white based light peach, that is very hard to pull off. On applying a first layer, you can notice that is it streaky. It dries down fast, at which point you can add another light layer on top to take care of the streakiness. It will not look perfectly even and, due to the color type, it will emphasize your lip texture and lines. It is not as resilient as French Maid, in that it fades in the center as soon as you have a drink. As I reapplied it, it did not crack and lasted on my lips pretty well. I managed to remove it using micellar water, though.

NYX Moscow City Set Lip, Eye and Face Collection review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

For the holidays, NYX launched a few City Sets, each with 4 eyeshadows, a blush, a highlighter and a lip cream in it. Each set has a different color scheme and name. I treated myself to the Moscow collection, because of the blue lip cream.

NYX Moscow Soft Matte Lip Cream review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

Now that the winter holidays are so close, I thought I would treat myself to one of the NYX lip/eye/face collections. Today, however, I am reviewing the Moscow Soft Matte Lip Cream that comes in the Moscow palette.

NYX Love Contours All palette review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

I got the NYX Love Contours All palette a few days ago (gift with purchase in Belgium!) and I thought I would sit down and write a review. I have used it a few times now (even did 2 different looks on the same day), so this is not going to be a first impressions.

Swatch Time: NYX Liquid Suede in 11 Kitten Heels

Dear Roses and Lilies,

The NYX Liquid Suede lippies are interesting and, above all, affordable. Here is my very first one.

It is a warm, bright red, that dries down to a matte finish, and is comfy to wear. It is not smudge proof, so don't wipe your lips after you eat. ;-)

What other shade do you recommend from the NYX Liquid Suede line?

NYX Lip Lingerie 20 French Maid review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

I had heard good things about the NYX Lip Lingerie liquid lipsticks. NYX is affordable and cruelty free, so I thought I would mix things up a bit in my makeup collection. My first ever NYX Lip Lingerie was French Maid, because it looked like a fall appropriate nude.

First off, I think my choice in color was unfortunate. It is a light muted mauve that does not do anything for my complexion. Well, not anything good anyway. However, I can say this liquid lipstick can be so comfortable to wear, tat you may forget you are wearing it.

If my lips are not well moisturized, after an hour of wearing it, it starts to feel drying. Otherwise, the wear is comfy for up to 5 hours, before I feel the need to lick my lips too often. It is resilient though, so much so that you need an oil based makeup remover to get it off your lips, and greasy food does not damage it too much. There is some fading near the inner rim of my mouth, which I can patch up easily. It does not crack, even after having patched it up.

After French Maid, I am in the mood to try Exotic from the NYX Lip Lingerie line. I am also eyeing Cheekies for a Brigitte Bardot inspired look.

What are your favorite shades?

xoxo,
WildRose

MAC Dazzelglass Comet Blue review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

This is an interesting product, for those of us who have not dared or cared to wear glittery lipgloss before. At a first glance, I was worried that the glitter would be too chunky and it would make the wear even more uncomfortable. I need to mention at this point and for those who have not figured it out yet, that I find lipgloss the most annoying to wear, after lip balm. I swatched MAC Comet Blue in store, on the back of my hand, and it looked very pretty ( I too am attracted to shiny things ). So I took this baby home. This gloss would only be popping in artificial lighting and, when applied over lipstick or pencil, it gives extra dimension to the lips, just like any other gloss. You would need to get close up to see the glitter. Speaking of which, turns out it is not gritty at all, and my apprehension was irrational.

Is this lip gloss sticky? A bit. Is it moisturizing? Yes, but not as moisturizing as a lip balm.

Do you own any of the Dazzleglasses from MAC?

WildRose

My imperfect lips

Dear Roses and Lilies,

When I take a look at lip product adds, all I see are huge, mostly perfectly symmetrical, puffy lips. Makes me want to try lip injections... naaah!

Ever since I started wearing lipstick (in the early 2000s), I realized how imperfect my lips are. But that is fine, because there is a  huge advantage - I can give them whatever shape I want! And no one will know it's not my natural lip shape.

I love my imperfect lips! Which part of your face do you love most?

WildRose

Swatch Time: Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet No. 2

Dear Roses and Lilies,

As soon as I saw the Collection Numeros Rouges on Chanel's Begian page, I could hardly wait to go down to a store and see the four lipsticks in person. That was last week. I also wanted to wait and see if there would be any reviews and swatches on the internet, particularly on temptalia.com. So I waited until yesterday, then decided to order No. 2, as I had read somewhere that the collection would only be available in stores at the end of the month and I did not want to wait, because my birthday is coming up.

Swatch time: Essence Vibrant Shock Lip Paint in 05 Nightstalker

Dear Roses and Lilies,

Not so long ago, Essence launched some new liquid lipsticks: some metallic, some matte - and really vibrant. I am not a fan of metallic lipsticks, so I went with the Vibrant Shock Lip Paint. Looking at pictures online just after the lip paints became available, I immediately got drawn in by the blue hue, that did not lean green nor purple, so 05 Nightstalker was immediately in my shopping cart. Then I waited 24 hours for the order to arrive, all the while thinking about what a superb addition this hue would be to my ever growing collection.

Old MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour?

Dear Roses and Lilies,

Today's post is going to be a bit more laid back, if that is even possible. :-) I was going through the liquid lipsticks from MAC I got early this year, when I discovered something disheartening about my little stash.

Swatch time: MAC Stone Matte Lipstick

Dear Roses and Lilies,

There was some hype surrounding MAC Stone last year and I remember looking and lots of pictures on instagram, trying to decide whether or not to get this shade. I never owned any shade like this, because I always thought it would make me look washed out. But I went with the trend, and got Stone anyway. Now this, to me, looks like a cool undertoned brown in the tube.

MAC Passionate matte eyeshadow review and looks

Dear Roses and Lilies,

I have started to switch up my eye makeup looks a little recently, straying away from the muted tones that I am used to wearing all the time. Went to MAC, grabbed Passionate and a couple more things.

Gerovital H3 Derma+ Purifying Foaming Gel review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

I have been using the Gerovital H3 Derma+ Purifying Foaming Gel for quite some time, as an alternative to scrubs. This product is formulated for oily skin, and it is for daily use. It says on the bottle: "Efficiently and gently cleanses the skin / Purifies and regulates sebum production".

Gerovital Plant Moisturizing Micellar Water review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

Continuing on the makeup remover/skincare theme this week, I give you my review of the Gerovital Plant Moisturizing Micellar Watter review. Yes, they misspelled "water", but then English is not our first language :).

Gerovital H3 Evolution Micellar Water review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

As Farmec/Gerovital is quickly becoming my favorite skincare brand, I thought I'd give their new Gerovital H3 Evolution micellar water with hyaluronic acid a try.

What's new in my collection - Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Filler

Dear Roses and Lilies,

I went to some stores intending to get an affordable brow mascara/tinted brow gel, because I do not currently own one. Instead, I got sidetracked by this Maybelline fiber brow filler. I do not own any fiber brow products either, so I thought I would give this a go, and see if it really does something for brows. I watched someone on youtube talk about this product, but it did not really spark my interest, because the review was not glowing. Now that I saw it in the store, I realize why this would not be for everyone. First off, the applicator is strange - elongated shape that makes it look somewhat like a spatula, flat on one side, with tiny spikes on the other.

Swatch time: Chanel Rouge Allure Ink 152 Choquant

Dear Roses and Lilies,

My first high end lipstick was Chanel, and I fell in love. It was years and years ago, before the Rouge Coco line was revamped and reformulated. After the line relaunched, I got a few staple shades. I did not own any of the Rouge Allures, but now I have 152 Choquant, which is a gorgeous red shade. Looking at my collection of red lipsticks, there is no shade like Chanel's Choquant. I wanted a special red, that I know I would wear over and over again, and this is the perfect one.

Ebelin brush cleanser review BOAB

Dear Roses and Lilies,

I really like beauty on a budget, especially if I come across something that works for me and gets me past my unending skepticism when it comes to beauty products that are really affordable.
Thanks to my Insta friend and fellow blogger @lraivn, who likes this product, I went into my local DM and picked it up. It is a brush cleanser and it was incredibly affordable.

It comes in a 100ml bottle, with a sprayer. The directions on the outer box are translated, but the labels on the bottle are written in German.

Before I go on with the review, I want to caution you on one of the ingredients, because it can cause an allergic reaction: Tetramethyl Acetyloctahydronaphthaline (OTNE), which is a fragrance. I made a patch test on my skin before I proceeded to use this product on my brushes. I did not have an allergic reaction to it, but I suggest you do a patch test too if you decide to try this brush cleanser out.
The Ebelin brush cleanser has a strong, floral fragrance, that lingers on the brush. It is a lovely scent, but you really need to crack a window open when cleansing your brushes.
Performance wise, it does the job well. If my brushes are really stained, I need to double cleanse them. That only happens if I get lazy and don't clean my brushes right after I apply my makeup. It's not that often though, so I do not need to use a lot of product. I've had this bottle for about a month, and I've used less than a quarter of the cleansing liquid.
The Ebelin brush cleanser is not like other similar products, where you can use your brushes right after you cleaned them. With this cleanser, you need to let your brushes dry for up to a couple of hours. My brushes are still soft, like brand new, which is a plus. I do still wash my brushes with shampoo and water twice a week, but this brush cleanser is perfect for in-between washes. I do not use it to clean my sponges. Those always need a good wash.
Have you tried this brush cleanser? What other brush cleansers would you recommend for beauty on a budget lovers?
xoxo,
WildRose

Soft, every day/first date makeup look ft. MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 foundation

Dear Roses and Lilies,

Today I decided I would share one of my every day makeup looks that, I think, is appropriate for the office as well. This is a soft makeup look, that is easy to achieve, and lasts for hours and hours.

Depending on how much makeup you usually use, what comes next will seem either too little or too much. If you are not used to wearing many products, you can certainly skip a few products, and still get what this look is essentially about: simplicity, softness, femininity. If you like to wear lots and lots of product, you can still achieve this look, as long as you blend everything very well, so that the finished product does not look over the top. Here is a roundup of the makeup I used:

NEW Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation review

Dear Roses and Lilies,
It's finally mine! The new Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, the reformulated and revamped version. It launched last month, and I have had it for a few weeks, but I didn't want to put up a post right away. I really wanted to test this foundation, before giving you my thoughts.Right off the bat, you can see that the packaging is different from the previous version of the Healthy Mix foundation: the bottle is squared, with a red cap, and the brand name is also written in red.

MAC Fashion Legacy Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour for Valentine's Day

Dear Roses and Lilies,

Valentine's Day is upon us and, though I do not agree with celebrating love only on 1 day in the year, I wanted to take a moment and appreciate all the beautiful looks that people do for this particular occasion. But I am not going to do a special look today. Instead, I will be talking about a red lipstick option for you, in case you want to go with the red hearts theme this year. (Of course, whether you are single or not, celebrating Valentine's Day or being anti V Day, you can still wear red lipstick any time you fancy.)

MAC's Fashion Legacy lipstick has been in my collection for quite a while now, and I use it every time I want to wear a red that looks stunning, but also holds up throughout the day, without needing touch ups.

MAC Young Attitude Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour review

Dear Roses and Lilies,
Today, I am going to share with you my honest opinions (as always), about the new MAC liquid lipstick called Young Attitude. This is a new color, that MAC added this year to their Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour collection, and is one of the more daring colors. Young Attitude is a dark teal, i.e. the color of my dreams, after red and royal blue.

MAC Burnt Spice Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

This month, MAC came out with a few additional, trendy colors for their retro matte liquid lipsticks. I had two of them on my wishlist, namely Burnt Spice and Topped With Brandy. Today, I am going to talk to you about Burnt Spice, which is a nude (one can never get enough of nudes!), that seems to work on a lot of different skin tones, as it is not too light, and not too dark either.

Lancome Virtuose Mascara review

Dear Roses and Lilies,

It has been a while since I've reviewed any mascara and, now that I got a new one, in a travel makeup set, I thought I'd thoroughly test it and give you my thoughts.

Today's mascara is Lancome Virtuose, which is designed to curl and separate your lashes "for up to 12 hours".

Hello 2017 - de-clutter my makeup stash

Dear Roses and Lilies,

It is the beginning of another fabulous year, so you get to see what I get rid of and why.

This was my make up stash, before I singled out items I will not be using anymore. By the way, if you want to follow me on Instagram, the account name is wildrosesandlilies ;-)
